The intelligent/sane/rational skeptic would assess the situation and, seeing no evidence of fraudulent behavior, join right in with the fun. If she was in a particularly pedagogical mood, she might contribute her own stories, making them ever more fantastical until even the believers in the crowd become skeptical.
