So when logic fails you, you desert it? The murderer's hair strand is involved in a nexus of cause and effect surrounding a committed past crime in a way not applicable between a consumed carrot and a hypothetical future salad (if you're gonna attempt analogies, at least take pains to insure that they are good ones).
