This is an idea that I think you would do well to loose as soon as possible.

If you don't respond, you don't respond. Period. If someone writes an e-mail and no one replies to it, they usually end up feeling like an idiot. In a conversation points are scored by engaging the other and drawing their ideas out, not by shutting them up. In the end, the balance of power in the cosmic war for the "Truth" is never determined by who gets the last word in a mailing list agrument. Really.

Jesus mentioned something about those destructive kinds of "can't stop fighting or they'll think I'm weak" B.S. behaviors --I think it was a little something to do with cheeks and slapping, if I remember correctly. (That kinky Nazarine!)
