I prefer 'postulates' as well. It also infers further study, a motion of discovery. 'Maxim', does not, 'maxim' infers a codified and strict structure, inflexible, monastic.

My only postulate has always been 'If a person says it, it's all fiction.' But remember, the universe I see don't need people....
