virus: Descartes, again.

Is it just me, or does it seem that the string of discussion started by
feather [who I hope will not construe this as a personal attack ;) ] is just
another version of the mind-body dualism? Only here it is the
intellect-emotion dualism.
I would agree that there are tendencies to become lost in abstraction, but I
think this is a failure of intellectual discipline to discipline itself
rather than an inherent defect in intellectualism itself. If there is a
conflict between intellect and emotion (i.e., LIFE), possibly that is because
the former points out faults in the unbridled running of the latter.
