And then I thought of a quote after transmitting that message.

" ... he who has so little knowledge of human nature, as to seek

This was taken from Rambler, an 18th Century editorial column written by
English witticist Samuel Johnson.

The same gent also said something like- it is possible to force injury
upon a man, but impossible to please him against his will.
