it was genetic due to the spiders body being designed to make this web...

I think what I'm really proposing is that genes as a whole can be viewed as
just a big brain with a slower clock speed, but a much larger databus, and
that therefore it may be hard to pin down the exact location of the host
"sentient being" in time and space.

At least I think that's what I think I'm getting at... :)
