Boy- why have children? ... Youch, what a question!

I could be flip, and why not, and say that is what churches have always
been for....

Is the root answer 'in order to continue'?

Cuz-

'I feel maternal.'

'I feel macho.'

'We need farmhands.'

'To carry on the family name.'

'We need soldiers.'

'My biological clock is ticking.'

'A baby in every port.'

-And the list goes on.

Could even one of the parents here on this list actually enumerate the
reasons he or she is a parent? (Memetically or otherwise, from whatever
level?)

'The condom broke.'

'My sister has all these nice baby clothes.'

The problem facing us is one of what memes are driving us to continue, and
how do they differ from (or augment) the genetic drivers?

Churches may well be memecomplexes of continuation.

But, oy, what a question!
