I'd sure like to kill that meme, but it has apparently proliferated
beyond the control of list admins everywhere. For most lists, if you
send an unsubscribe message to the list it will just go to all list
subscribers like any other message sent to the list. Smarter lists
like this one (majordomo) will redirect the request to the list admin
for manual handling (which can be very annoying if you get several every
day).
