Richard welcomed David to the list, thanked him for the fresh point of view
and brought up his old axioms:

1) Memes exist.
2) Only useful memes are useful.
3) Life is a battle with no rules.
4) Promote, promote, promote.

>Let's first kill this word "discovery." Ayn Rand made an INVENTION, not
>a discovery.

Is this an example of a "useful" distinction meme?

And -- you know, Richard -- "once you buy into the distinction-memes, you've
lost the battle". I agree that there is a difference between "discovery"
and "invention", but from a person who "does not believe in believing"?... :-)

To use you own strategy:
Translation: Let's create distinction-memes called "discovery" and
"INVENTION" and say that one is not the same as the other. How creative...

>Once you buy into the distinction-memes, you've lost the
>battle. This is why I never argue about whether there is or isn't free
>will - I just don't use the meme because it isn't useful to me.

What battle, Richard? If you don't want to argue about the existence of
free will, why do you?
