Alas, my experience suggests otherwise. I am currently engaged in a
debate on the intellectual proerty issue on the Extropians list, which
was a motivation for the .sig, but it is clear that misunderstanding of
new ideas is rampant, even among the otherwise well-educated. I've been
on the net for over a decade, and no matter how obvious something seems
to me, /someone/ will misunderstand completely.
