And reason is seldom abdicated without cause. When it is, we need to look
for memetic underpinnings. Humans are not entirely rational and neither
are the content of their memes. If reason has been abandoned it is
/rational/ to seek to understand to what purpose.

Irrational religions are successful. Period.

If CoV hopes to be successful in spreading it's memes, it is /rational/ to
adopt strategies that work. Irrational or not. (Your invitation to the
