Just try the experiment and report your results. Also, you flipped from
if-then logic to a more emotional "can't stand the thought," which would be
more satisfying to her I would guess. Try to frame it in your original,
logical terms. Of course I don't know your wife but I've had this
discussion with several of my own.

As an aside, one of the most enlightened men I know, and one who seems to
have a very happy marriage, told me his secret. He said, "I have a
commitment to never know my wife."
