A good map works because our symbolism is similar, and, the rate of
change in the univers apears constant to us.

This is a good mental leap (I think). I believe you must "see" a relation
here between "symbolism" and "rate of change". Personally, I don't see why
you included rate of change...I would say that things change at a constant
rate, relatively speaking, but do not get the connection between that idea
and the idea of recognition of patterns.

On the other hand, I think that all creativity occurs by mental leaps...I am
assuming that this is a creative understanding (a new understanding, not one
that was explained to you but one you "intuit" somehow and thus the word
"see" above--which, by the way would explain how a seer "sees" things; or,
well, I can't say that for sure....but I know that mentally 'I' see
connections which others miss and these insights often change my perception
of reality, are perhaps revelations, or spiritual experiences of sorts and
seem to follow spiritualist definitions of what it is a see-er does).

So, can you explain in less than 500 lines the connection you are implying
between rate of change...appearence of constancy...and the way a map "works"
in our mind--I am assuming this will explain (some part of) the process of
symbolic understanding.
