I'm not sure Law is a good counter-example. Sure, it tends to prevent us
from giving in to vengeance urges etc., but that is certainly due in part
to our wanting to avoid the punishment that most legal systems have backing
them up. And Law also plays on our desire for justice and "fair-play",
especially for ourselves. I think this desire was discussed at length in
_The Moral Animal_, from the standpoint of it being deeply ingrained in our
nature.

What aspects of Law do you think fight human nature?
