All right, here's my response.
First off, I didn't claim to be a moderator, much less *the*
moderator. Secondly, you could have ignored my post as well.
But this is as close to an apology as it's going to come right now.
The fact is that I've just found out that the local law enforcement
agency here is forcing me to turn over *all* of my writings to them,
destroy all copies that I have, and remove everything I have on my
website, as well as ban me from all internet activity whatsoever
(academic or otherwise). They are also prohibiting me from even
keeping copies of anything that I write from now on -- poetry, short
stories, essays -- everything. I'm embroiled in a court case appealing
this which is likely to go to the state supreme court (1st amendment
issues) and which has already involved the ACLU. It's also going to
cost me into five figures to fight it. All of this on the basis of
reviewing *one story* which had a sexual theme but no graphic
depictions, violence, or depictions of illegal conduct. It simply
*happened* to be published on the net.
It's also going to prevent me from finishing my degree, building a
resumee in the field, and of course graduate school is now out of the
question.
Yes, this is in the United States.
So if I was rude, fine. If I've got a split-hair trigger right now,
fine. At least you may have the comfort of knowing that you might not
have to see my posts again for the next five years.
