I can't help but notice that this looks very similar to

"By God, I think he's got it!"

I've been thinking about expressions like these -- "My God", "Jesus!" etc.
-- for a while now. Why are they so prevalent? What are we saying when we
use them?

And, of course, above all: is it a meme?

I would contend yes -- one that is *deeply* ingrained in our society. I
don't believe in a God, but in a "cusp" I'll say it too -- My God! It has
to be a meme. Everyone around me says it, and it seems quite catchy.
Anyone want to study this meme?
