It's a horrible generalization, true, (but as I use Macs by personal
choice almost exclusively) one I can at least see the grounding of- Macs
were always passed on to the end-user as a point-and-click machine.
Result? Most Mac users never open the manual, and are happy as long as
everything swims downstream, but when anything amiss happens, they are
lost, and the OS gives them little recourse or clue. GUI is great, but
the simple operational knowledge that DOS gives you is a good thing.

Standard opinion is usually, the perfect OS would be a Mac with a command
line.
