Actually, I read a *very* interesting piece about the freewill defence to
the atheistic arguement for the non-existence of God by the presence of
evil the other day -- just a little teaser here:

"For instance, he could have made the world such that each new individual
started afresh, like Adam and Eve, with a perfectly neutral nature, on the
basis of which truly free choices could then be made. It bears noting that
if he had done this, there would have been less evil and a freer human
will!"

(that last quote was the final cincher in my own atheism -- a little bit of
doubt did exist before, enough that I was semi-worried (even a small number
times infinity is pretty big!) but this finally convinced me that the
arguement from evil is truly cogent -- and that thus it's deductive insight
is valid)
