Well, I decided that I needed to be sure that I was not making a "Inacurate
Generalization". Well, acording to the last Republican platform statement, their
political party was anti-same sex marriage,

from the 1996 Republic Party Platform - if you read the news you will see this view
has not changed.
"We reject the distortion of those laws to cover sexual
preference, and we endorse the Defense of Marriage Act to prevent states from
being forced to recognize same-sex unions"

Lets go check out some Christian organizations to see if I am making "incorrect
generalizations" there too. lets see, the Christian Coalition seems pretty much
against same sex marriages - at least that is what their scorecard seems to say.
http://www.cc.org/publications/ccnews/ccnews98.html#scorecard. But admittedly, the
Christian Coalition only represents a few million American people.

Tim, you know that nearly every Christian page I visit will say something similar -
that "the Bible says homosexuality is immoral". Sure, there will be a few that say
otherwise, but not many. I can understand how you could be appalled by prejiduce, so
am I, but I am accurate when I say that the Christian right is anti-homosexual. i am
not saying "every Christian is anti-homosexual" I am refering to the "group as a
whole" and I am supported by the demographics and voting trends.
Also, I was using homosexuality as only a single subject, but there are many,
many more that relate specifically to religion. Everything from polygamy to drugs,
suicide to abortion can be traced largly to religious moral upbringing. As I was not
raised with ANY of these issues being inherently "bad" it is easy to look upon them
as issues for rational debate and empirical decision making. But no matter how you
look at it, most of the "moral" laws of our country are based upon religious views
and oppress a great many of us.

one of my favorite quotes:

"If fifty million people say a foolish thing, it is still a foolish thing."
Anatole France
