Yesterday was mother's day and a bunch of my wife's female relatives came
over to our house for dinner. About 8:30 two matron aunts came into the
living room and asked to watch this angel program. <I recently broke my leg
... I had my foot up on the arm of the couch ... and was reading a book
....>

This program must be seen to be believed .... the angels represent a
una-god, but one that it is non-denominational enough not to put what I
suspect is a largely Xtian audience off the channel. The story I saw had
four characters: Girl's_mom, Girl, Boy's_mom, Boy. Observation one: There
were no daddies in the story. Girl and Boy are dating. Boy's_mom and
Girl's_mom forbid their love. Girl's_mom slept around in high school, but
is very prudish in front of Girl. Boy's_mom tells Boy Girl's_mom slept
around. Boy tells Girl. Girl is mad at Boy. Girl read's Girl's_mom's
diary. Girl decides Girl's_mom was/is a tramp and decides to consummate her
love for Boy. Girl and Boy go to hotel. Cut to morning when Girl tries to
climb a trellis back to her room. She falls and cracks her head unbeknownst
to anyone. Complications because Girl's_Mom and Boy's_Mom fight about where
Girl was. Boy doesn't own up to it. Girl's friend find's Girl and call
911. Girl's_Mom and Boy's_Mom reconcile at hospital ... it turn's out that
Girl's_Mom "soiled" Boy's_Mom's high school boyfriend. Boy's_Mom forgives
Girl's_Mom. Girl's_Mom forgive's Boy's_Mom for not cutting her any slack.
Boy declares he and Girl remained chaste. Girl wakes from coma.

There are two angels floating around in the above saccharine mess. One is
skinny, white and has a British accent, The other is heavy, black, and has
the ugliest hair I've ever seen on network TV. I intend to watch this
program again next week with a notepad. I invite other members of the group
to do the same and look for obvious memes ... little snippets of illogic
whose acceptance buttress the show's obnoxious premises.

Later,

Nate
