The name simply means that it is Jesus Christ's Church restored to earth
in modern times (the latter days)..... All members of the church are
considered
Saints.

You can say LDS or even Mormons (although LDS is the preferred title of
members.)

BTW What does CATHOLIC CHURCH mean? What does JEWISH church mean?
How about words like MONKEY, SOAP, TREE, ELEPHANT, etc mean...they sound
pretty funny to me.
