Here is an analogy. Without hydrogen, we could not have water. No matter how bad
you wanted it. Your entire "god" concept is the one formed by Judiasm. To you,
the concepts of Adam and Eve and the entire geneology all the way to Jesus being
born of Mary, is based on what you call the old testament. (Although most of the
stories were modified from older religions and not actually Judiac in origin)
Joseph would hve never made up the name Jesus Christ had he not seen it earlier
in life. The character you know would have never existed.
