I'm curious John; how does the personal choice to consume alcohol and
drugs, or to watch porn? Yes, there are many "evils" that are spawned from
them, like addiction and abuse, but that is malicious behavior of a person,
and not a mere side effect of pharmaceuticals. It's unrealistic to say
that the 'world would be a better place if only...", if as Fallwake said,
"Humans suck". These 'standards' are the judgments of Joesph Smith and
global ills can't be cured by obeying his rules on abstinence.
