I don' think that the few words he had said about beleiving in himself
automatically allows you to lable him or his view of himself as
solipsismic in thier origin. That lable seems more confining then he
portrayed himself to be

If he had only said things like "I believe in me" then you would be right.
But he went further to say that "Everything else is just a figment of my
imagination." That is a solipsism. If he really believes that, no label I
could offer would be the least bit confining for him.
