We are looking for something which affects the expression of genes?

I don't think so. Not in the typical genetic/evolutionary sense. We are
looking for something which affects the expression of behavior- which in
turn could affect mating habits and so forth, but that would be a
secondary effect, yes? Or would be the interaction of memetic and genetic
forces.

I had thought there was some concession here that the meme is entirely a
denizen/effector/product/activity of the brain in homo sapiens sapiens. I
have seen no reason to put it elsewhere.
