virus: How does the Level-3 mind know which model to use? (was: Memetic Engineering)

Ken asked how a Level-3 player knows which of the conflicting models of
reality to use at any one time.

Moving up to Level 3 is a transformation in one's perceptions, motivations,
and values. While in Level 2, we let our perceptions put us in a box,
limiting our choices to the options we see at any given time in accordance
with our motivations and values. This is by no means a bad strategy for
living life, and yet Level 3 is much more powerful.

In Level 3, one becomes extraordinarily clear about one's motivations and
values, crafting for oneself a life purpose. From this chosen purpose,
appropriate models reveal themselves more and more frequently because there
is cognitive pressure to "break out of the box" in order to accomplish that
purpose.

If there is interest, I'll conduct a free mini-seminar in life purpose over
IRQ some evening. Send me private email if you're interested.

Ah yes, science, drugs and rock 'n' roll: the holy trinity!

Richard, I notice you use distinction memes in the above paragraph; e.g.,
science is good for building airplanes but not community cohesion,
vice-versa for religion. How does the Level 3 mind decide which model of
reality to use in a given situation?
