As such, do-re-mi shows a relationship around and
about a point (the point from which the sound
originates?). For example, does the sound
represented by "fa" (that is "aaaaaaaah") seem to
indicate the movement (of a sound) from a point,
and in a particular direction "a long, long
way"... like the song suggests, that "fa" is "a
long, long, way to run"? Similarly, does "re"
suggest an amorphous quality which collects from
everywhere about a point (as in "re, a drop of
golden sun)?
It might be that the manner in which certain
sounds reveal spatial dimensions allows that these
sounds become representative of specific
dimensional qualities. My understanding-- when
looking at notes this way-- is that they are the
precursors of *letters* (since the letter "t", for
example, might be said to pictorigraphically
represent the relationship of a "tree", that is "a
thing which refers to itself"-- like the sound
"eeeeee", as in "mi", might indicate a reflexive
physical relationship... "mi, the name I call
myself").
