We CAN view the whole of consciousness as
belonging to the immune system (if someone can say exactly what it is
against which we are defending ourself... through the development of
"ego"). On the other hand, we can view personality as a specialization
of "nervous system" (as for transmitting information). The first is a
Darwinian evolution of chance recombination, and destruction of the
least fit. The second is a memetic evolution of the survival of the
most "cooperative" (or "best fit").

As such, "children" are less prone to DEATH by disease-- being
"inoculated" with the childhood illness all at once (rather than
developing the pathology through "allergic reactions"). Which reminds
me of an idea I had that mental illness is an ontological dis-ease which
kills in adult onset but which immunizes in childhood onset. As such,
the poisonous pedagogy established by adults in their dichotomized
"kill/ cure" encouragement of resistant strains of virulence becomes the
viral (or "memetic") organization by which Darwinian "mutation"
occurs... and by which *specialization* might evolve chance ordering
toward *life*.
