But going with the second ones you offered:

The mistake is in #2: "Can't convince him otherwise" Now, you don't want to
destroy his/her faith, but that does not mean you cannot work within that
faith to change their veiws. Plenty of Christians seek medical treatment
every day. I believe David even noted that these views are not the common
ones in his sect. (Sorry, I've forgoted what denomination your relatives
are from, David) There is no reason to lie down and simply accept the death
because you don't want to shake the faith. You might need to enlist another
from within the faith to help you. But if you give up and resolve to just
"try and feel better about it" then, yes, there are no other options at that
point.
