I bet some religious ideas benefit from a similar positive feedback
phenomenon; it strikes me that any set of ideas concerned with how the
mind/self works will be riddled with feedback, because they're all about
taking the output of thoughts and using them as input.

Actually maybe consciousness itself is a feedback phenomenon: a system of
non-conscious processes whose outputs act as the inputs to other processes
in the system. No one process is aware of itself, but the overall system is
aware of at least its own processes.

Maybe all ideas are feedback phenomena: memes are all about ideas that come
out of one brain going into another brain, after all.
