Almost all academics try to speak from authority. But I expect that
if memetics is going to become a science it will have to be accepted by
the scientists. I never met an academic who didn't believe religiously
in what he through was "the Truth." You no doubt have similar feelings
about the Truth of your church.

objectify us a little more? Who, exactly do you think the "scientists"
are? Why do you insist on propagating "us-vs.-them" memes?
I, for one, tend to discount everything I think.
