The Church of SubGenius worships "Bob", so it isn't a counter example.
I'm very surprised you didn't mention the Church of Zero. Sure, man is
god, but they don't worship each other or themselves.

Anyway, given that all of these are "small" I'd say that the point still
holds. "Church" is inherently about worship. And check this out: my
Collins Concise dictionary has Church as first: misc inapplicable
Christian meanings, including "building", "gathering of people",
"particular Christain denomination" and then as "institutional religion
as political or social force"... is this the kind of thing you want to
associate the RoV with?
