Yes, I suppose it does complement Freud's Oedipus complex. I figure
that Jung came up with the Electra complex to apply the same concept
to the female child that Freud left out. A lot of Jung is opposite of
Freud, which ultimately led to their splitting up (e.g. Freud's 'hard
science' vs. Jung's spirituality).
