I didn't think I was backpeddling, I do not know about suicide either
way, just suspect and would like to know. As for Christianity being
responsible for more violence than anything else, that I do know. All
groups claim that the bad ones weren't really with them, so i eliminate
ALL of those arguments, regardless. Koresh was a self proclaimed
Christian - he falls in that category. As do the early Christian and
Catholic invaders of this new world (America) who brought disease and
technological superiority and successfully killed 16 million Native
Americans in a single generation. With the Athiests, we have to accept
what Stallin did. I am not sure of what religion Gengis Khan followed,
but his religion gets credit for the killings if religion had anything
to do with it. If we were to just count wars or invasions with the
purpose of killing people of religious opposition, then the last 2000
years speaks pretty hard on the Christian and Catholic histories. I
combine them because they sprout from the same source. I also find it
very sad that the one religios leader in history that preached love,
could be followed by so many homocidal maniacs. The Why Christians Suck
page at http://www.paranoia.com/~wcs/ has collected lots of this type
of data. Beware, this page is quite inflamitory, but I have not yet
found flaws in their data - but would be interested is someone finds
some.

Also, a note: Admittedly over the last few decades, with the exception
of the Christian coalition and their ilk, Christianity has made some
improvements in tolerance and understanding. This makes me a little less
afraid for my life than I was a few years ago when i was openly
threatened. i also tend to avoid anti-christian sentiment now as i grow
older and my scope of view has widened.
