I'm not going to defend the TCS ideas -- if you really want to learn
something, go subscribe to the TCS list. It certainly has opened my eyes
to a few belief's that we are better off without (like the one you just
expressed above).

I do recommend "The Directors Cut" -- it has a volume of about 200K a week
-- about 2 hours of reading. It's amazing how much sense the theories
make, and how many problems these people solve (TCS is a *practical*
theory, and the list is devoted to helping parents implement it)
