Ah... yes.  I have often thought of writing up a bill that requires the legislatures to repeal 3 laws for each one they get passed......  My idea of political evolution  HEH

The military is the largest piece budgetwise, Politicians are highly visible and I feel they are not motivated to support to constitution, but their jobs, with a few exceptions. State employees are often fine, but as I have had VERY bad luck with all I have encouintered personally, I tend to think of government as the following item in order of power

Military
    Politicians
        Beaurocrats

i feel that people in government, should be concerned with the following items in priority:
The freedom of every citizen
The rights of every citizewn to excercize freedom
The feeding, clothing and housing of the population (for those incapable)
The Education of the population
The Economical opportunity of all Americans
Saftey of the population from disaster

At the bottom of the list

Saftey of the population from itself
National Defense
Police and security

By the way, I do not believe democracy is a legitimate way to form a government. If it was up to me, you would need 90% of the vote to make any law, and 20% of the vote to repeal it.
The majority has shown that it does not believe in equal rights for Black people, Women, Gays, People with diseases, the homeless, basically - if you are not a whaite male Christian, you do not have equale rights, and I feel the beaurocracy supports this because it represents generally bad people, and it equally bad.

Ok... here is an opportunity for me to get some answers to something that has
puzzled me.  Just what is the "government" if it is not people?  I hear that term
use as a perjoritive so much any more.  My father was a civil engineer who designed
roads and bridges.

I have worked as a state employee for most of my adult life.  I am a registered
social worker who currently is a computer specialist.  The job that has affected me
most deeply was working as a child protective social worker.

What I learned from that experience is that people have a very unusual idea of what
can and can not be done to stop parents from harming children... and when I mean
harm, I mean severe injury and/or death.

So, Bill, as I respect your opinion, just what is it about government that you fear
if it is not people.  (And if it is lawyers... well then we probably agree )
