As a *theory* of "meaning", I have stated the reasoning which (in my
mind) indicates a possible relationship between the letters in a word,
or words, and the word's usage. The next step in the scientific process
is to test the hypothesis using words with similar letter configurations
and correlating the definitions of these words to see if they are
related to a degree that is greater than chance.

I do not know of any studies that have tested this possibility.

Future research might also focus on the "grammar" of individual words...
assuming that the letter configuration might represent a string of
symbolic ideas arranged in such a way that the letters, as symbols, form
a coherent meaning (similar to the way that a string of words form a
sentence with a coherent meaning).

I have tested the hypothesis informally by looking for comanalities in
words with similar sounds and found that the meanings of similar
sounding words often seem to have enough similarities to confirm the
initial hypothesis.
