Yes, I still assert that memes can be seen as
systems of behavior and thereby indicated as
"pretty pictures" which describe their action
(even in, but not limited to, cultural
interaction).

I still like the idea of naming and agreeing upon
the basic memes under question and working on
describing what components might function in a
system which purports to replicate these basic
ideas. To simplify, I propose ONE basic structure
and ONE basic meme which can be debated (rather
than a list of them-- assuming that any list of
basics will be covered by the particular structure
proposed).

Thus:

ORDER
MIX MATCH
CREATE DESTROY
COMBINE SEPARATE
CHANCE

Is proposed for the basic meme organization (which
I call "freedom").

This graphically represents that "freedom" is a
meme whose system is composed of the behaviors
"mixing", "matching", "creating", "destroying",
"combining", and "separating" such that "chance"
might become "ordered' in such a way that
*freedom* is replicated between one system and
another (while maintaining the components of the
system).

As I am proposing that this is a "basic"
organization, one might substitute the idea of
"specialization", "art", "standards", etc for the
idea of freedom (when speaking of the memes <art>,
<standards>, and <specialization> instead of the
meme <freedom>; though maintain the system as one
which combines, separates, etc., the elements of
the basic idea in a way that the meme not only
replicates but also *evolves* from one idea to the
other... that is, in which the meme becomes more
*ordered*).

As a basic EXAMPLE, then:

The chance occurrence of "blue eyes" through the
genetic "act" of combining and separating eye
colors-- in a way which both creates and destroys
such colors-- might allow for the eventual mixing
and matching of the evolutionarily "superior"
components for eye color to both survive (in a
genetic sense) AND to produce *blue* eyes
according to the establishment of an ordering by
which this might occur. The *order* in which the
surviving characteristics which might produce blue
eyes (or which might also produce "brown eyes",
though blue is herein assumed to be *memetically*
superior) removes the genetic *chance* that either
blue or brown might equally occur given the
survival of determinants for "eye color", in
general. In this way, the *system* for eye color
might be represented as a preferred equation for
ORDERING CHANCE (said system being replicated in
other instances* in a way that behaviors
determined by chance to occur are more likely to
occur than established by chance alone, while-- at
the same time-- replicating the meme for blue
eyes**).

*"other instances"-- in the memetic determination
of art, control, standards, etc. (which I am still
inviting others to confirm are memes... and to
which I am also encouraging others to add their
own basic "traits"-- those which might similarly
be assumed as, likewise, *memetically* determined

*rather, replicating the meme for the *freedom* to
encourage the occurrence of "blue eyes" given the
chance determination that they are equally
probable as any other "eye color" trait ("brown"
for example).

ps "Chagrined" is a good word. Are Tim and I
REALLY agreeing here?
