Seems the era in which space travel was considered
fantasy has inspired in those of that era a
mythological component which likewise inspires
idealization of "aliens".

Though my generation grew up without such a strong
romanticization of space (in the form of) aliens,
it is highly probable that the meme for behaviors
which invest the likely possibility of finding
alien life with the "magic" of this previous era
is passed on to future generations.

OR: The alien meme, <imagination>, is surely
exhibited in the mass obsession with UFO's. This
is to say that the meme by which an ideal (in this
case, "space flight") is debated by antagonist and
protagonist might be represented in the plots and
plans (counter plots) by which competition and
cooperation of new hosts (new adherents to UFO
seeking) encourage the internalization of this
imaginative component (*fantasized* space flight)
in *ideas* of magical alien life-- which are thus
replicated by the evolutionarily desired-- and
memetically determined trait of-- "imagination"...
in the form of <imagination> (as it relates to the
current ideal)".

Graphically represented as*:

aliens(idea)
military(competition)----NASA(cooperation)
conquer(plot)----(imagination)---incorporate(plan)
conservative(antagonist)--liberal(protagonist)
space flight(ideal)

It might be said that the "seed" of imagination is
spread because the "fruit" (or pulpy excess)
represented by the exaggerated components (ideas)
is systematically enlarged through memetics from
the simple ideal of space flight (such that the
ideal might be propagated with the consumption of
the fruit thereof).

*again, I reduce this system to the basics
explained in previous post where <freedom> might
be substituted for <imagination> (above)
